This post and your last one seem like they were written right to me! I’ve recently finished a Christian romance novel that I’ve been working on for over 5 years off and on…and I have no idea what to do with it since I don’t know anything about the publishing industry. I’m not interested in getting a stack of rejection letters (though I don’t even know how to submit manuscripts in the first place!), so I thought maybe I’ll self publish. But I’m kind of afraid to do anything in case the book really isn’t that good. Fear of criticism, I guess. Your posts are a reminder that it’s better to try to do something with the book than to let it lie, not share it, and wonder all my life what might have happened…

Hi Ann…… I totally get fear of rejection. I got over a hundred rejection letters on my initial manuscripts before I wrote one that finally hit (that one became The Lady of Bolton Hill). Each one hurt…. but the journey was wonderful. Even if my books had ever been published, I could have honestly said that I enjoyed the journey. So that’s what really matters. Good luck whatever you decide to do!
