I love the Smithsonian magazine. Each month it is filled with such an interesting array of historical wisdom, scientific discoveries, and a treasure trove of fascinating trivia.
Recently their website had a collection of the top ten grand gestures of love in history. Coming in at number one was the resignation of Edward VIII. I admit to having read a whole slew of biographies about these two….they were quite a pair, and you don’t have to scratch the surface very deeply to see their many flaws…..yet it is hard to compete with Edward’s magnificent sign of devotion.
